Our cruises depart from two different locations, depending on the month you choose to travel. Our Firth of Clyde cruises, at the beginning and end of the season, depart from Holy Loch Marina, 2 A815, Sandbank, Dunoon PA23 8QB. Our mid-season cruises depart from The North Pier Pontoons, Oban, PA34 5QD. The majority of cruises depart between 3 and 4pm on the day of travel, although do check your welcome email for details as some differ, and return for 11am on the final day, giving plenty of time for onward travel. Both Dunoon and Oban are served by excellent public transport links, which is our recommended way to travel for a greener and more sustainable holiday with Argyll Cruising.
Dunoon
There is a regular train service from Glasgow Central station to Gourock. A short distance from Gourock station there is a passenger ferry operated by Caledonian MacBrayne across to Central Dunoon, a short taxi ride from the marina. If you are travelling from Glasgow Airport there is a bus from the airport to Paisley Gilmour Street train station and from here you can join the Gourock train.
If you are coming by car you can do so by driving West on the M8 and following signs for Greenock and Gourock. Upon reaching Gourock take the short ferry sailing with Western Ferries from Gourock’s McInroy’s Point to Hunter’s Quay. The ferry does not require pre-booking. Alternatively, drive the longer scenic route from Glasgow crossing the Erskine Bridge and then heading for the A82 which passes Loch Lomondside, then the A83 past the ‘Rest and Be Thankful’, followed by the A815 along the shores of Loch Eck which leads to Holy Loch Marina. There is free secure parking at the marina and this does not require pre-booking.
There are electrical vehicle charging points available in Dunoon. You can find them here.
Oban
Travelling to Oban by train is very easy from Glasgow – using Glasgow Queen Street Station and taking the Oban service. The journey is roughly 3 hours and travels along the famous West Highland Line, which is very scenic. Alternatively, there is a bus service from Glasgow Buchanan bus station operated by City Link.
Reaching Oban by car is around 2.5 hours from Glasgow. Secure car parking is available at Stoddart’s, a 10 minute walk from Splendour’s berth (email: john.stoddarts@btconnect.com) – early booking is advised.
There are electric vehicle charge points available in and near Oban which can be found here.
